questions & CONCERNS
I was sworn in as the new city councilmember. The first job was to elect a Mayor. We chose Councilmember Bob Botts. We then voted Councilmember Barbara Hanna in as our Mayor Pro-tem. I was voted in as CRA chairman . . .
with Banning Unified School District I have been appointed to Hemmerling Elementary School and the Maintenance , Operations and Transportation.
Back in August 2008 I reviewed the city budget on a line item by line item analysis. I provided the City Treasurer a copy of my analysis and possible solutions to what I considered a fat budget
Due to Sales Tax Revenue being way down, along with permit, engineering, water connections, sewer connections, refuse collection, property tax projections, foreclosures causing loss of utility revenues and the list goes on. We must budget for additional cuts for next year
I have made a stand for the people of Banning when I asked the city council to table the approval of accounts payable and warrant approvals until I could meet with the Finance Director of the City and have my concerns answered.
Usually mid or late afternoon on Friday before the CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) and the City Council meeting on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, we receive notice from the city clerk that the agenda packets are ready to be picked up at city hall. This schedule was recently revised since there is too much activity in the CRA to hold a once monthly meeting.
